The BDO World Professional Darts Championship will no longer take place at the historic home of worlds darts after the BDO signed a deal with The 02 in London to stage the event.

Lakeside County Club has been the home of the BDO World Championships since its 1986 where Eric Bristow was crowned champion. The move signifies a new start for the BDO as they look to capitalize on the hype around the sport in it’s current era.

Reigning BDO Men’s World Champion Glen Durrant will not be defending his for a fourth time, and is instead expected to compete in the PDC World Championships at the Alexandra Palace. Japanese sensation Mikuru Suzuki will take to the London stage to defend the women’s trophy.

Ticket details for the event are yet to be released. Visit BDODarts.com for more information
